The training program is typically 12-18 months in length. During this time, the Sales Development Trainee will spend time working in a variety of departments within Parker Canada to prepare for the Territory Manager role. These departments may include: Customer Service, Inventory Planning, Strategic Pricing, Manufacturing, Warehouse, Product Management and Sales. You will also have the opportunity to take part in several product training courses online, in Canada and at our Parker US locations.

Upon completion of the training program, you will be assigned a territory to manage. You will gain experience applying products, interacting with Parker customers, distributors and divisions, creating a solid foundation for future career opportunities within the company.

Job Responsibilities will include:

Responsible for field sales support in assigned geographic territory in an effort to secure and grow market share. Assigned to select National/ Regional accounts to provide field sales support in conjunction with the efforts of the sales team.

  • Provide product and technical support for retail programs and services on initial set up of accounts
  • Assist distributors with technical support and sales efforts
  • Work with and assist Territory Managers to set up new distribution and container placements
  • Participate in joint sales calls with senior Territory Managers to select accounts
  • Provide product and technical support for retail programs and services on initial set up of accounts
  • Provide product training for distribution and end use customers on an ongoing basis
  • Promote and support Parker’s Value added services with distribution and end use accounts
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the competitive products and their activity in the market place and provide a report on a monthly basis
  • Motivate and provide sales direction and technical support to the distributors. Assist in the conversion of competitive accounts to Parker.
  • Attend product training schools in Canada and the United States

Education/Experience required:

  • University degree in Engineering or Business required. Recent Graduate or expected graduation in 2019
  • Must be technically inclined or have an interest in learning technical information
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet/Intranet, basic Access
  • Great organizational skills
  • Easily adaptable to new situations

Travel: All candidates must be willing and able to travel within Canada and the United States to attend training as required. Preference will be given to candidates who are relocatable within Canada at the end of the Sales Trainee program.
