Northern Health has always prided itself as an organization that encourages career development at all levels. Whether through continued education courses and opportunities offered by our local university and college partnerships, or in-house training and management programs or through coaching and team mentoring, there is always room to grow at Northern Health.
Prince George is the proud home of the University of Northern British Columbia, which has been in operation since 1994, and the College of New Caledonia which was established in 1969. The university is consistently rated extremely well in Maclean’s magazine and is a growing centre of research with local research funding now amounting to about $10 million annually.
Tuition Reimbursement Program
Full-time or part-time employees who take courses leading to certificates, diplomas, degrees, or professional designations can be reimbursed for up to $750 of their tuition.
Organization/leadership development and engagement
The Organization Development department supports Northern Health’s goals and objectives by designing and initiating programs that expand organizational capacity and sustainability while improving the quality of work life for all employees. Organization Development practitioners also work with teams and departments to plan, implement, and evaluate workplace interventions that enhance function and effectiveness.
Indigenous Cultural Competency (ICC) training will be of interest to health care professionals who work directly and indirectly with Aboriginal people. This unique facilitated online cultural competency training course is designed to increase knowledge, enhance self-awareness and build on skills.
