The Headlines:

Reporting to the HR Manager, the L&D specialist works with Brewery Management to design and manage the delivery of a wide variety of training programs that address skill development and personal development for employees within the brewery. Some of these training programs will focus on technical training for operators and tradesmen, World Class supply Chain (WCSC), Health & Safety, Capital Improvement and Induction & Onboarding.


The Responsibilities:

  • Assessing training needs through surveys, interviews with employees or consultations with managers and instructors
  • Design and create training manuals, online learning modules and other course materials
  • Review training materials from a variety of vendors and choose appropriate materials
  • Deliver training to employees using a variety of instructional techniques
  • Select and assign instructors or vendors to conduct training
  • Perform administrative tasks such as monitoring costs, scheduling classes, setting up systems and equipment, and coordinating enrollment
  • Conducting evaluations to gauge training effectiveness and successful skill transference to the job; using that information to coach improvement within the brewery organization
  • Monitoring and evaluating training programs to ensure they are current and effective
  • Ensuring training delivered utilizes internal, global or national providers prior to outsourcing
  • Maintaining all L&D records as per company policy and legally required documentation
  • Developing and maintaining competency matrices for all business unit jobs that require internal leadership/technical/apprenticeship/basic operations skills training
  • Working with all departments to ensure Standard Operating Procedures are current and accurate
  • Responsible for overseeing induction and onboarding programs for new employees and employees changing positions

The Qualifications:

  • University degree or College diploma in Adult Education, Training & Development or Human Resources
  • 1-3 years of learning and development experience in a manufacturing, unionized environment, with experience reading and interpreting collective agreements
  • A proven ability to manage a broad spectrum of L&D program and projects
  • A proven track record of implementing World Class Manufacturing training including Lean
  • Manufacturing, 5S, autonomous maintenance, and Six Sigma (Green Belt or black belt certification an asset)
  • You have demonstrated problem solving, sound judgment and business acumen
  • You have Change Management experience
  • Advanced organization skills with an excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (especially Word, PowerPoint & Excel)
  • Experience using Articulate Storyline and/or Visio an asset
