Make an impact with our Valuations team as a Co-op Accounting Student for an 8 month term beginning January 2024 to August 2024. This diverse team of professionals works with clients on a wide range of business disputes and irregularities and applies qualitative techniques to accurately measure the value of their operations. As a trusted advisor, you’ll provide independent and reliable business valuations that empower clients to advance their strategic goals and make value-driven business decisions with confidence.

  • Work directly with senior staff to deliver business valuations, quantification of damages, income analysis for family law matters, financial modelling and purchase price allocations.
  • Assist in the execution of valuations for engagements requiring transaction pricing, regulatory and financial reporting, income tax or estate planning and strategic decision making.
  • Conduct industry and market research on trends, valuation multiples for relevant public companies and precedent transactions.
  • Prepare cash flows, valuation models and other technical based analysis, projections and forecasts.
  • Assist in business valuation and income analysis in litigation matters including shareholder disputes, estate maters and matrimonial disputes.
  • Analyze and project income trends for businesses who have suffered an income loss as a result of an insurable event.  Quantify the loss experienced by the business as a result of the event.
  • Support the design and development of high-quality deliverables including engagement letters, reports, and presentations.
  • Identify innovative ways to deliver added value to clients; ensure client needs are met and relationships grow and develop
  • Work collaboratively with the client engagement team 

Skills and Experience

  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is preferred) 
  • Working towards prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP)
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Previous accounting related office experience is considered an asset 
  • Customer service and/or client service experience is considered an asset
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset
  • Interest in the law is considered an asset
