National Manager, Volunteer Engagement

We’re currently searching for a passionate National Manager, Volunteer Engagement to lead the development and implementation of a National Volunteer Management strategy.  Working collaboratively with both staff and volunteers across all areas of JDRF, this position will be integral in the development of volunteer management best practices and create necessary documentation, processes and tools to support JDRF volunteer activities.

Key accountabilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Acting as a volunteer engagement champion and developing annual plans to support overall volunteer engagement
  • Providing ongoing research and development in volunteer best practices for implementation aligned with JDRF mission, strategy and business planning
  • Managing effective volunteer appreciation initiatives and leading the development of volunteer policies, processes and tools to support JDRF volunteer activities
  • In collaboration with Regional teams, developing and overseeing recruitment strategies, processes and communication tools
  • Managing the tools to support volunteer orientation and training as well as overseeing the online process for background and credit checks for specific volunteer roles
  • Ensuring strong volunteer data processes and systems are in place and in alignment with overall strategic needs
  • Identifying and leading the implementation of key opportunities to enhance volunteer engagement and satisfaction; developing and implementing action plans for improvement
  • Collaboratively developing and implementing a training program that will enable JDRF staff to work effectively and cooperatively with volunteers

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive Volunteer Engagement experience with a strong track record of achievement
  • Strong business sense and demonstrated ability to understand volunteer and business needs
  • Experience working in a charity environment with the ability to apply significant lateral influence expertise
  • Experience working cross functionally and in complex, matrix environments and the ability to exhibit flexibility when interacting with various levels of individuals
  • Strong stakeholder management, relationship management, customer service, and communication skills
  • Demonstrates outstanding leadership with the ability to motivate and influence others at all levels
  • Incorporates critical thinking into decision-making and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel 10% of time
