As an Actuarial Co-op Student at belairdirect under the Intact Financial Corporation (IFC) umbrella, you will learn the art of measuring risk - this is what powers our products, policies and pricing and is a vital part of our business.

We have 4-month co-op  positions available in our Winter ( January - April) and Summer (May - August) 2020 term based in our Vancouver, BC office.

When you step into this role, you will:

  • Collect, process, verify and analyze statistical data and produce reports designed as a basis for actuarial assessments
  • Participate in various work groups (product pricing, claims reserves, financial projections, regulatory reporting, analyzing underwriting files, etc.)
  • Produce reports and make improvements using various programs and software (SAS, Sapiens, SQL, Visual Basic, Excel and Access)
  • Share knowledge and explain basic actuarial principles to colleagues

This role will offer you the chance to:

Your Skills

The requirements.

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Finance or Economics
  • Passed 2 CAS/SOA exams is preferred
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Detail orientated and strong ability to multi-task
  • Technical Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Statistical Analysis System (SAS), Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
