*This position resides in Victoria, BC and is a 4-month work term commencing September 2017. It is mandatory that all applicants are enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work term.

The following job responsibilities for Software Developer include:
We are looking for a student to work with IBM Chief Data Office team based in Victoria BC. This team is working on cognitive computing solutions and reusable cognitive computing services that operate over structured and unstructured data in the IBM enterprise data lake. These solutions are implemented using containers and micro services to be deployed in a cloud computing environment. The successful candidate will work in an Agile development environment to deliver software for these solutions.

Required Education: High School Diploma/GED
Preferred Education: Pre-University Qualification
Required Technical and Professional Expertise:
- Java development
- Demonstrates verbal and written communications skills
- Co-op or internship program enrollment is mandatory
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:
- Containers and micro services architecture
- Cloud computing
- Machine learning, data science
- Analytics and big data
- Unix skills
- Relational DB / SQL skills
- Knowledge of agile software development methodology
- Understanding of software engineering
