Your Role and Responsibilities

This position resides in Markham, Ontario and is a 16-month work term commencing May 2021. It is mandatory that all applicants are enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work term.

A position is available with the DevIT Team based out of the IBM Canada Markham Software Development Lab. We are looking for candidates willing to apply themselves and participate in providing high quality technical support to a wide range of internal IBM software development customers. The successful candidate should be a self-starter with the ability to learn new technologies and think creatively. The candidate would work closely with our local and national team to provide solutions to a wide variety of problems facing our development organizations. They will also have the ability to work with leading technologies in Cloud Virtualization, DevOps Tooling, state of the art hardware, and with a variety of custom solutions.

In this role, you will:

• Perform operating system installs/upgrades
• Assist customers solving their technical challenges by troubleshooting Linux/Windows systems
• Assist in the Cloud development/maintenance of our virtual environments
• Help maintain our IT security compliance across all platforms
• Write, maintain and enhance our department’s scripts to help the team become more efficient and automated
• Racking and cabling state-of-the-art servers in our data center
• Special project assignments

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Co-op or internship program enrollment is mandatory
• Basic computer knowledge
• Basic operating systems (Windows/Linux) knowledge
• Basic networking knowledge
• Good time management and organizational skills
