The Finance & Admin Business Analyst is essential to the ongoing profitable operations for one of the most globally recognized and respected companies in the world. By overseeing our financial activities, you will enable IBM to continue to bring to market ground-breaking innovations such as Artificial Intelligence, Cognitive Solutions, Cloud Infrastructure, and Blockchain technologies, to name a few.

Your Role and Responsibilities
This position resides in Ottawa, Ontario and is a 4 or 8 (co-op) month work term commencing January 2020. It is mandatory that all applicants are enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work term.

The Business Solutions team within Business Analytics (BA) is a newly formed team whose mandate is to Accelerate the time to market for our prospects, clients and sales force to understand and utilize our products. The plan is to build and curate content, guides and starter kits that can be industry or business function based. These solutions will be housed within a Catalogue. The role of the BI/Data Analyst is to help build, extend and maintain content on the Catalogue. Depending on the strengths of the candidate and the priorities for team, tasks could include:

  • Creating new content for the catalogue (dashboards, data sets, Jupyter notebook extensions, BI apps, custom visualization)
  • Extending or improving existing content
  • Regression testing of existing content
  • Create, query, mine and manipulate data sets to support catalogue content
  • Research opportunities to add new content for the catalogue
  • Write/edit catalogue descriptions

This role will involve working with technology that is covered by Export Regulations sanctions. If you are a Foreign National from any of the following US sanctioned countries (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria) on a work permit, you are not eligible for employment in this position.

  • Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Co-op or internship program enrollment is mandatory
  • Proven work experience using SQL and databases
  • Previous work experience with BI/analytics tools
  • Proven ability to work on different tasks and adapt to changes in priorities, timelines and deliverables
  • Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Experience with IBM Cognos Analytics and/or Planning Analytics
  • Experience with Javascript and D3 (nice to have)
  • Experience with advanced analytics software (SAS, SPSS, R)
