The following student position is a part of IBM Canada's EPIC (Employment Pathways to Interns & Co-ops) Student Program. This position is only open to students registered in a Canadian University or College program, who have completed a minimum of 2 years of their degree or diploma program, and who must be returning to full-time study upon the completion of the temporary IBM work term.

*This Student Position resides in Toronto, Ontario and is a 16 (internship) month work term commencing May 2017

The following job responsibilities for Associate Technical Analyst include:

  • Consult directly with stakeholders: business users, System Administrators or Technical Resources, both over the phone and via electronic communication, to troubleshoot and resolve basic incentive calculation solutions
  • Analyze performance issues with calculation time and recommend creative solutions
  • Manage client expectations through the case resolution process
  • Contribute to the content of our Knowledge base
  • Provide assistance to consultants and partners during implementation

Required Education: High School Diploma/GE 

Preferred Education: Pre-University Qualification

Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

  • Understand database concepts
  • Ability to read complex queries
  • Team player
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical, self-motivated, and resourceful
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and decision making skills
  • Co-op or internship program enrollment is mandatory

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:

  • Knowledge of SQL Server 2005/2008/2012
  • Knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008
  • Knowledge of Tomcat, Websphere and/or Jboss
  • Experience with JavaScript and/or VBScript and knowledge of Unix/Linux operating system is an asset
  • Fluency in French and/or Spanish is an asset

Eligibility Requirements:

This role will involve working with technology that is covered by embargo Export Regulations. If you are a Foreign National from any of the following embargoed countries (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria) on a work permit you are not eligible for employment in this position.
