EDC’s Procurement Team enables our client’s decision-making by providing expertise and advisory services in contracting, sourcing and procurement processes. The team is responsible for safeguarding the reputation of EDC’s procurement practices while maintaining the highest ethical standards.

Discipline Summary

  • Negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers, and prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services, technologies, supplies.
  • Prepares bids or requests for proposals (RFPs), including specifications and requirements.
  • Develops, negotiates, and administers contract terms and participates in the determination of acceptable bids.
  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy, discusses defects and delivery problems with suppliers and negotiates refunds.
  • Evaluates contract compliance and advises others on contractual rights and obligations.
  • Processes amendments to contract terms or contract extensions.

Key Responsibilities  

  • Facilitates the identification, definition, and modification of RFP’s/RFI’s/RFQ’s/RFT’s (formal Competitive Procurement Processes) while considering all facets of risk mitigation standards, controls and processes while safeguarding EDC’s reputation.  
  • Advises and proactively influences their internal clients throughout the entire acquisition process; advises on procedural issues, legislative regulations and industry guidelines and best practices, assuring that the needs are met with the appropriate balance of opportunity and accountability and provides cost benefit analysis. 
  • Translates client requirements into statements of work, deliverables, or other industry norms; identifies the appropriate means to either facilitate acquisition or proposal solicitation.
  • Documents the entire acquisition process and/or competitive procurement process and ensures for audit purposes the proper recording of all facets of the undertaking. 
  • Maintains efficient records (electronic and paper) of all affected Procurement records including purchase orders, commercial contracts, and formal proposal processes.  
  • Undertakes research or new services and product opportunities along with new potential sources of supply and make recommendations for same on an ongoing basis.
  • Participates in Corporate initiatives and projects.

Screening Criteria   

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or another related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in a Procurement environment with 3 years’ experience guiding formal competitive procurement processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of complex contracts, commercial contracts, and competitive procurement processes.
  • Knowledge of the procurement industry and procurement best practices. 
  • Strong written, presentation and spoken communication skills preferably in both official languages. Preference will be given to bilingual candidates. 


  • Significant progression towards professional certification (Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA))
  • Knowledge of Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) and the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the ability to apply the elements of this agreement to all parts of the procurement process

Salary Range

  • $64,100 - $96,100, plus performance-based incentive
