Team & Job Overview

EDC aims to help Canadian businesses go, grow and succeed internationally, and the marketing team has an ambitious agenda to deepen exporter engagement through digital capabilities and insights-based marketing programs. As part of the Communications, Marketing and Corporate Strategy group, the Customer Experience and Research team is seeking a marketing research analyst with quantitative and qualitative skills to support the organization’s research and customer experience programs. 

As a Research Analyst, you will support deliverables with the goals of further understanding our target market, audiences, customers, customer satisfaction and brand perception. You will leverage data, insights and qualitative data research to effectively inform the business.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Review and perform quality assurance on research instruments (surveys & interview guides)
  • Prepare sample lists and upload them into EDC’s customer experience and research platform (Qualtrics).
  • Create and test survey distributions in EDC’s customer experience and research platform (Qualtrics).
  • Program surveys in EDC’s customer experience and research platform (Qualtrics).
  • Test programmed surveys in EDC’s customer experience and research platform (Qualtrics).
  • Code Open end responses: hundreds of verbatim, open-ended comments (non-structured data) from survey responses, code them into themes using Qualtrics and help generate insights
  • Load customer survey results manually into EDC’s CRM
  • Create dashboards in EDC’s customer experience and research platform (Qualtrics).
  • Conduct some analysis in SPSS
  • Put together small reports from SPSS analysis into PowerPoint
  • Review and perform quality assurance on reports
  • Use storytelling to bring key insights and results to life

Key Competencies 

  • Market research skills, including experience in analyzing quantitative data by coding open ends into themes, conducting frequencies and crosstabs. 
  • Online survey programming skills using a research platform like Qualtrics or Survey Monkey
  • Ability to prepare and review insight summaries, reports or presentations
  • Effective process improvement and analytical skills
  • Ability to apply analytical techniques to qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Working knowledge of softwares such as Microsoft office, Excel, and SPSS, research platforms (like Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, etc.)
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate with other researchers and marketing team members

Screening Criteria 

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field
  • Working knowledge of marketing or research principles and practices


  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English) 
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Familiarity with customer research platform such Qualtrics Experience Measurement Platform
  • College certificate or degree in marketing research and intelligence
