As EDC aims to be the leader in helping all Canadian companies go, grow and succeed internationally, the Global Trade Team will do its part by deepening relationships with targeted international companies through its Connections Financing Program to create trade opportunities for Canadian companies and benefit Canada.
Global Trade (GT) works collaboratively with internal and external partners to deliver trade connection opportunities for Canadian businesses with potential customers. Through our Connections Financing Program, our global team works closely with a targeted portfolio of responsible and sustainable international buyers to identify unmet needs and give access to Canadian suppliers’ expertise and innovation.
Reporting to the Manager, Global Trade Services, the Associate/Senior Associate is responsible for executing on research and other projects to support the Global Trade team in building EDC’s knowledge of Canadian capabilities and helping to identify Canadian suppliers that may meet the needs of EDC’s international Connections Financing clients. As well, they support the Global Trade Directors in building relationships with Canadian companies and industry partners.
This is a market-facing role in that the execution of assigned responsibilities requires the incumbent to interact with internal and external parties. The Associate/Senior Associate is held accountable for the quality, data management and on-time delivery of assigned projects and tasks.

Leverage internal, external and on-line sources to identify Canadian companies with capabilities that match international customer needs and or emerging areas of demand
Conduct research with CDN businesses to understand their capabilities, business objectives, market entry strategies and suitability for trade creation generally and their interest in specific trade opportunities
Leverage industry network to source industry knowledge, insight and company capability information
Conduct secondary research in support of GT sector strategy development, operational planning and increasing understanding of international business ecosystem
Prepare content and provide analytical support for presentations, reports and transactions
Supports the continuous improvement initiatives to improve customer value and experience as well as improve internal efficiencies
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners such as trade associations and relevant government departments and agencies
University degree in International Business, Commerce, or equivalent combination of related education and experience
Minimum of 1 year of business experience
Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)

Associate: $45,000 - $67,000, plus performance-based incentive
Senior Associate: $52,000 – $79,000, plus performance-based incentive
