Employer Relations Officer (Contract)
CPA Ontario is currently in search of an Employer Relations Officer who will be responsible for the Pre-Approved Programs (PPRs) monitoring process.
The Employer Relations department is responsible for the assessment of all practical experience obtained by CPA students. Students can obtain their practical experience through Experience Verification or through Pre-Approved Programs (PPRs). The department partners with organizations (firms, corporations, government) who meet the requirements to offer Pre-Approved Programs. The monitoring process ensures the Pre-Approved Programs are in compliance with these requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Planning the monitoring process which includes updating all checklist and conclusion letter templates.
Liaising with the Practice Inspection team on firms selected for inspection, the results of the inspection as well as any issues uncovered.
Reviewing and monitoring of the pre-approved programs by conducting risk assessments to determine the scope of work and appropriate review procedures.
Modifying and developing review procedures as required and completing the review procedures for each program.
Determining the overall compliance of the programs based on the results of the review procedures.
Discussing issues found and finalizing documentation on each file including review of conclusion letters with employers and students.
Supervising and reviewing the work completed by the Monitoring Coordinator.
Conducting debrief meetings to discuss recommended improvements for next year’s process with the Director, Employer Relations.
Who You Are:
A post-secondary graduate who has completed the CPA program and is a CPA Ontario member in good standing with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification work experience in a public accounting and/or corporate environment preferably in a management level role.
Well versed and have a solid understanding of the practical experience standards, policies and practices, as well as how all experience information should be captured in PERT by stakeholders.
A strong communicator (verbally and written) with excellent interpersonal, presentation, relationship building, customer service and negotiating skills.
Digitally fluent in Word, Excel, Powerpoint and TEAMS.
A critical thinker with excellent judgement skills and a strong attention to accuracy and detail.
Extremely organized with a proven ability to plan, multi-task, implement and execute projects in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
Comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
