About the role
This 6-month temporary assignment is an exceptional opportunity to become a member of the Corporate Relations team, where you will research and analyze a variety of materials in order to produce effective and timely correspondence materials for the Minister, the Chairperson, the President, and Senior Management regarding different business issues and CMHC programs and services. 

What you will need
•    A commitment to demonstrating CMHC values. 
•    Post-secondary education in Journalism, Communications, or a related program with a minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in related area OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 
•    Demonstrated experience in preparing correspondence.
•    Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining a professional relationship with business partners (external and internal).
•    Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
•    Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and achieve results.
•    Proven ability to work effectively with others to achieve common goals.
•    Professionalism, good judgement, and problem solving skills.
•    The ability to undertake research and information analysis.
•    Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and achieve results.
•    Knowledge of CMHC’s structure, products, programs, services and current corporate issues and events.


What you will be doing

Relationship Management

  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with key internal representatives in Corporate Relations, business lines and regions, as well as external representatives in the portfolio department.
  • Engage with correspondence counterparts in other federal departments and ensure effective information sharing.
  • Contribute actively to the Corporate Relations team, hold regular formal and informal discussions with briefings and Parliamentary Affairs staff to ensure awareness of emerging issues (e.g., write-in campaigns, MP letters) and consistency on messaging.
  • Respond to information requests related to correspondence from internal and external clients.

Development of Correspondence Products

  • Evaluate and analyze incoming material, including from the Minister's Office; assess what information is required and what approvals are necessary, and determine the approach to be taken.
  • Draft correspondence, ensure to use the most up-to-date language and message and pre-approved standards. 
  • Tailor responses based on the nature of the letter, the writer and case-specific circumstances.
  • Proofread and edit correspondence. 

Analysis and Continuous Improvement

  • Support a client-centred, focused and performance-oriented culture.
  • Stay abreast of developments in housing internally and externally to build knowledge and maintain an in-depth understanding of key account files.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes in the Correspondence Unit and Corporate Relations Office.
