Job Description

What You'll Be Doing

CIBC Capital Markets provides corporate, government, and institutional clients with innovative solutions to help them raise capital, and grow and invest actively throughout North America, Latin America, and key financial centres around the world. Our mission is to bring Canadian Capital Markets products to Canada and the rest of the world, and also bring the world to Canada.

We are responsible for client strategy and analytics to support our corporate client relationships. We provide management with tools and insight to allocate resources, drive decision making and monitor performance.

As an Analyst, you will assist with Client Management's mandate related to global client coverage, strategy and analytics.  This will include assisting with producing regular analytics, maintaining client plans for significant clients and responding to ad-hoc requests for analytics.

How You'll Succeed

  • Work with Industry Coverage Teams and Client Service Teams to provide proactive analytical support and reporting

  • Liaise across bank departments to develop briefing notes for Senior Management ahead of client meetings

  • Assist in production of consolidated corporate finance league tables

  • Assist in production of client plans to be utilized by Client Service Teams and presented to Senior Management

  • Prepare analytics, identify trends and financial metrics at a client and industry level

  • Assist with the maintenance of the core client list and related performance metrics

  • Work with CRM team to ensure client data is current, complete and accessible

  • Assist in the reporting of daily, weekly and monthly client deal flow across Capital Markets for dissemination to senior management

  • Assist in preparation of key reporting packages in support of quarterly industry reviews and business updates

  • Propose / develop ways to optimize complex numerically intensive processes to reduce errors and increase efficiency

  • Assist in identifying best practices across clients and industries

Who You Are
  • Successful candidates must exhibit CIBC’s values of trust, team work and accountability

  • Education: Bachelors or equivalent degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field

  • Demonstrated interest in capital markets / investment banking

  • Self-starter that exhibits good initiative

  • Superior analytical skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work with minimal guidance                                                          

  • Strong research abilities                                             

  • Technical proficiency in topics related to corporate finance

  • Expertise with Excel and PowerPoint
