Founded in 1965, Christian Horizons is a non-profit, faith-based charitable organization supporting people with disabilities in Canada and around the world. With over 3,500 employees, Christian Horizons supports nearly 2,000 people with developmental disabilities and their families. Christian Horizons supports people within their communities throughout Ontario and Saskatchewan. Internationally, Christian Horizons works in partnership with local organizations to promote the inclusion and rights of people with disabilities in seven developing countries. We are currently hiring for the following positions in the Ottawa area:


(35-40 hours/week: Consists of a rotation of days, evenings and alternating weekend shifts)



(16-34 hours/week: Consists of a rotation of days, evenings and alternating weekend shifts)



Various locations in OTTAWA & Surrounding Areas

We are looking for passionate Direct Support Professionals (Support Workers) to assist persons with developmental disabilities to find a satisfying and purposeful place in their community by enhancing their quality of life and promoting personal growth.

In this role, you’ll be provided with opportunities to foster community inclusion, assist with activities of daily living, promote the implementation of person-centered plans, and assist with aspects of personal care as needed.

In these opportunities, you’ll be supporting individuals who live in community residential homes (group homes) where we provide 24/7 support. We value flexibility in one’s schedule to meet our person centered support needs.  Our schedules often include a rotation or days, evenings and working alternating weekends. Overnight positions consist of 10 hour shifts (i.e. 10pm-8am or 11pm-9am).

Our homes are located throughout the Ottawa region so access to reliable transportation may be required to be considered for some of our opportunities.

  • Education and experience in Developmental Services or a related field
  • A Developmental Service Worker Diploma is a preferred qualification
  • First Aid/CPR and Non Violent Crisis Intervention certifications
  • Valid Ontario “G” Driver’s License
  • Computer literacy
  • Commitments to a respectful and person-centered approach are essential assets
  • A preferred asset also includes proficiency in speaking/reading French
