Respite Provider

Founded in 1965, Christian Horizons is a non-profit, faith-based charitable organization supporting people with disabilities in Canada and around the world. With over 3,500 employees, Christian Horizons supports nearly 2,000 people with developmental disabilities and their families. Christian Horizons supports people within their communities throughout Ontario and Saskatchewan. Internationally, Christian Horizons works in partnership with local organizations to promote the inclusion and rights of people with disabilities in six developing countries.



(One weekend per month)



We are recruiting caring, dynamic families or individuals to provide in-home overnight, weekend respite to children with a developmental disability between the ages of 2-17, in Peel Region. The family or individual will provide respite in their home allowing the child an opportunity to grow, continue to develop, and become more independent while in the safety of the respite providers home. Ideal families or individuals will have a commitment to a person-centered philosophy of supports, along with education and experience in Developmental Services, Child and Youth Services and/or Social Services fields.

Compensation based on per diem rate. Additional training provided by Christian Horizons and Peel Behavioural Services.


Requirements: Successfully selected families and/or individuals should be willing to provide respite in their home, participate in an application and screening process which includes providing a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check, current First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certifications, and a Valid Ontario “G” class driver’s license. Access to reliable transportation is necessary in order to meet the travel requirements pertaining to the position. Proficiency in other languages is considered an asset, including, but not limited to, French, as this will be helpful in serving the multi-cultural communities that our program supports throughout the Peel region.
