VP of Programs

The VicePresident of Programs  will report to the President of the Toronto chapter, and operate as an integral member of the executive team. This volunteer position will provide a driven candidate with an excellent opportunity to help in the ideation, creation, and execution of new programs for YWiB Toronto.

You: are passionate about the development of young women and programs to help them succeed! You are on the up and up of professional development trends and skills training. You enjoy working in a team towards a common goal and love to be challenged in a supportive and rewarding environment.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Enhance, flesh out, and drive the continuation of YWiB Toronto’s SheMentors mentorship program

  • Create new programs for the YWiB Toronto Chapter, including a complete business proposal (budget, purpose, research, timeline), and develop the Programs team

  • Attract, develop, coach, and retain high-performance program team members, empowering them to elevate their self-management abilities, skillset, and performance

  • Work with staff to develop systems to ensure consistent and high-quality project management

  • Research new trends in skills development and training to enhance program development and delivery

  • Provide leadership in team communication and cohesiveness, sustaining culture and supporting YWiB during organizational growth

  • Coordinate with the executive team to network with and reach out to other Toronto business organizations

  • Manage relationships with partner organizations; develop new relationship and identify prospect program sponsors

  • Work collaboratively with the senior management team to implement and execute cross program activities and cross functional initiatives

  • Work with the President and VP Team to increase YWiB’s brand identity, implement sustainability measures, and strategize on chapter growth

  • Works on collaborative solutions in a positive and efficient manner; leads by example.

  • Passion for help us continue to build an inclusive community; committed to proactively seeking to increase diversity among our community members.

Skills/Characteristics that we’re looking for:

  • Knowledge and passion for YWiB’s mission.

  • Experience and commitment to working with and supporting BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of colour), women-identified individuals, trans, Two-Spirit, gender non-binary and non-conforming people and communities

  • Proven leadership and hands-on experience in Program Management, with the confidence to guide other departments when necessary

  • An entrepreneur and intrapreneur at heart, who enjoys building things from the ground up and foster the development of other women

  • A masterful event planner who takes pride in a job well done and on their team's growth.

  • Mission driven and community focused; self-driven & self-starter; well developed organizational & team management skills.

  • Confident and dynamic personality; hands-on approach and experience

  • Thoughtful & effective communicator; calm under pressure; well developed written and verbal communication skills; healthy sense of humour.

  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal selling skills.

  • Passion for women’s empowerment, career advancement, and personal improvement; previous involvement with women-focused feminist organizations a plus.

  • Enjoys working independently, and as part of a diverse and inclusive team.

  • Ability to act as an ambassador of YWiB in the community.

This volunteer position requires a commitment of 1 year. The successful candidate must lead and attend our team meetings; support the successful execution of events and programs; work with our team for idea contribution and initiative planning, and complete independent work. Time commitment will vary between 8-15 hours a week, not including bi-weekly chapter meetings and weekly departmental status calls.
