Vice President, Marketing

Young Women in Business (YWiB) Toronto is an inclusive and diverse non-profit organization, dedicated to helping young women-identified individuals to succeed professionally and personally. Fully volunteer-based, we do this by empowering them with the knowledge, resources and support to reach their fullest potential; overcome barriers, and achieve success - on their own terms.

The Role: 

We’re currently looking for a well-rounded and self-driven marketer for their Vice President of Marketing  role. Reporting to the organization's President, the candidate will be an integral member of the executive team, by leading and growing one of YWiB's key portfolios.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Works with the senior executive team to conceptualize Toronto's overall marketing initiatives.

  • Creates the marketing department's yearly, monthly and weekly calendars; delegates, oversees, and monitors their implementation; takes on executional duties when required.

  • Leads, fosters and coaches a growing team of young marketers; helps evaluate their performance; identifies resourcing needs, and team development opportunities. 

  • Strategizes the goals for the marketing portfolio and ensures successful execution.

  • Attracts, develops, coaches, and retains high-performance program team members empowering them to elevate their self-management abilities, skillset, and performance.

  • Crafts and writes departmental communications; brand champion; assures all department's adherence to the YWiB brand.

  • Develops and helps execute marketing campaigns (i.e. video, web, social ads, emails, etc.)

  • Engages with audiences in multiple platforms to further YWiB’s message

  • Works with the senior executive team to conceptualize overall initiatives, strengthen its brand presence, implement sustainability measures, and strategize its growth.

  • Collects and dissects social media metrics to build on and improve the organization’s initiatives.

  • Leads weekly departmental meetings; represents the marketing team in weekly leadership meetings, and during biweekly team meetings.

  • Works on collaborative solutions in a positive and efficient manner; leads by example.

  • Passion for help us continue to build an inclusive community; committed to proactively seeking to increase diversity among our community members.

  • Researches new trends in women empowerment, career development and business leadership to develop initiatives that enhance our value and impact on our community.

  • Manages new and existing relationships with partner organizations.

Skills/Characteristics that we’re looking for:

  • Knowledge and passion for YWiB’s mission; community focused; self-driven & a self-starter.

  • Experience and commitment to working with and supporting BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of colour), women- self-identified individuals, trans, Two-Spirit, gender non-binary and non-conforming people and communities.

  • Proven leadership and hands-on experience in marketing and communications, with the confidence to guide other departments when necessary

  • An entrepreneur and intrapreneur at heart, who enjoys building things from the ground up and foster the development of other women

  • Proven knowledge and experience designing, implementing and executing free and low cost marketing campaigns (strategies and tactics); knowledge of events, programs, and public relations activities a plus.

  • Masterful marketer & communicator who takes pride in a job well done and on their team's growth.

  • Confident, thoughtful & effective communicator; calm under pressure; well developed written and verbal communication skills; healthy sense of humour.

  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal selling skills.

  • Passion for women’s empowerment, career advancement, and personal improvement; previous involvement with women-focused feminist organizations a plus.

  • Enjoys working independently, and as part of a diverse and inclusive team.

  • Ability to act as an ambassador of YWiB in the community.

This volunteer position requires a commitment of 1 year. The successful candidate must attend our team meetings, support the successful execution of initiatives, work with our team for idea contribution, and complete independent work. Time commitment will vary between 8-15 hours a week, not including bi-weekly team meetings and weekly leadership status calls.
