Social Worker - Matching Program - ABLE2: Support for People with Disabilities

ABLE2 has been present in the Ottawa community since 1974. It is the only agency in the community that supports people of all ages across the disability spectrum. ABLE2 is an inclusive community that welcomes values and supports diversity and inclusion in all area of society.

If you believe that ordinary citizens can play a role that no-one else can in enhancing the quality of life of someone who is isolated and vulnerable because of age or disability, ABLE2 would like to hear from you. We are seeking a dynamic individual, who shares our belief in the value long-term unpaid relationships have on quality of life, for an exciting and challenging full-time permanent position in our Matching Programs.

SOCIAL WORKER: (Bilingual English/French). At a minimum you have a B.S.W. or a diploma in social work with 2 - 5 years related experience in both the disability and voluntary sector and are eligible for, or registered with, the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. The successful candidate will have a genuine interest and knowledge of disability issues, strong advocacy skills and a demonstrated ability to build and use broad community networks. You will also have solid assessment skills and the ability to impart your knowledge and skill to support volunteer Allies while actively participating in a team setting. French/English bilingualism is a mandatory requirement; additional languages would be an asset. A car is required.
