Senior Manager, Community Giving & Development Operations (Full time, Permanent)

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Reports to: Chief Development & Communications Officer

Hiring Range: $82,000 - $92,000, plus benefits plan, pension plan, 3 weeks paid vacation and professional development opportunities

Community Food Centres Canada (CFCC) is a national non-profit organization that builds health, belonging and social justice in low-income communities across Canada through the power of food. We believe food can bring people together to build skills and improve physical and mental health, and create the opportunity for greater equity and social change. We provide ideas, resources and a proven approach to partner organizations so they can establish responsive, financially stable Community Food Centres that support people to grow, cook, share, and advocate for good food for all. CFCC also works with the broader food movement to build greater capacity and to empower communities to work toward a healthy and fair food system. Our vision is a Canada that treats food as a basic human right.

CFCC’s strategic plan aims to have community food centres in 20 communities across Canada, to innovate new approaches to addressing food insecurity and advocate for positive change for low-income communities. To support this growth, we seek to increase revenues from $8M to $10M annually, to evolve from a founder-centric fundraising program and to build a national base of philanthropic support. In addition to annual revenue goals, CFCC has undertaken a $10M capital campaign.

CFCC is seeking an experienced fundraiser to lead and grow CFCC’s Community Giving Program. Reporting to the Chief Development & Communications Officer (CDCO), the Senior Manager, Community Giving & Development Operations will work collaboratively with the Director of Communications and the Director of Philanthropy to lead, inspire and support the Development and Communications team towards our strategic goals. They will also serve as a member of CFCC’s cross-functional Senior Management Team (SMT).

Planning, Strategy, Reporting (10%)

  • Provide strategy and leadership for the multi-channel Community Giving program, which includes digital giving, direct mail, mid-level programs, fundraising events and third party and DIY events & campaigns

  • Establish the annual Community Giving plan, budget and revenue goals in collaboration with CDCO

  • Identify opportunities to pilot and scale new community giving initiatives

  • Develop and implement a measurement and reporting framework Community Giving activities

  • Provide timely reporting on progress towards financial and non-financial objectives

Team & Program Management (60%)

  • Coach and manage a team of three fundraising professionals, including strategic oversight and management of all Community Giving activities 

  • Oversee the development, optimization & growth of a digital giving program, including campaigns and appeals, donor communications and journeys 

  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications to build a cohesive segmentation and email marketing strategy to strengthen CFCC’s supporter base

  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications in the development of digital strategy and content to support Community Giving program objectives

  • Support the strategic growth of mid-level giving, including the Good Food Builders affinity program

  • Lead CFCC’s annual peer-to-peer fundraising event, The Big Social, in partnership with the Director of Communications

  • Develop and execute a digital donor experience encompassing campaigns, events and stewardship communications 

  • Select and partner with vendors in the design and execution of projects, campaigns and events

  • Contribute to the development of an equity-focused, community-centric culture of philanthropy at CFCC, including initiatives to diversify CFCC’s donor base

  • Play a leadership role in the evolution of CFCC’s culture, and a work environment that is grounded in collaboration, respect, innovation and transparency

Development Operations (30%)

  • Provide oversight for Development department’s use of systems, including Salesforce and Engaging Networks

  • Provide oversight for gift administration and serve as liaison between Development and Finance for reconciliation and reporting 

  • Develop and oversee a framework for data analysis and business intelligence to drive decision-making and future budget allocations

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience leading and growing a community giving program with direct revenue accountability

  • Superior knowledge and experience in leading and optimizing digital campaigns and events

  • Experience in digital fundraising, specifically connected to donor journeys, engagement and stewardship

  • Experience evaluating and implementing strategies that drive donor acquisition and engagement

  • Experience in the use of data analytics to inform and drive revenue, and enhance engagement and optimize investment

  • Proven people leadership and management experience

  • Strong financial acumen 

  • Vendor management experience

  • Advanced experience in working with fundraising CRM systems; Salesforce and Engaging Networks an asset

  • Experience leading gift administration processes, including receipting and reporting from multiple sources/platforms

  • A post secondary degree in a related field; fundraising education an asset

  • 10+ years relevant experience; background in social change philanthropy an asset  

  • Knowledge of the Canadian charitable sector, including fundraising best practices and emerging trends, and a demonstrated commitment to professional growth
