Relief Sexual Health Counsellors - Multiple Language Positions Available - IWHC Toronto
Seeking on-call staff for Sexual Health counselling and case management for clients. This position is for on-site work and IS NOT a remote position. Previous Medical Office or Sexual Health counselling experience is preferred but not necessary. Flexible hours may be available. Duties include:
Client Care
- Providing information about IWHC Toronto
- Client counselling, intake, assessment and interpretation for clients as needed on all matters relating to sexual and reproductive health
- Case Management
- Provide education, information, treatment options, define and discuss relevant test findings as required
- Ensure applicable documentation is completed and maintained – chart preparation, follow-up care, photocopying and filing referrals and prescriptions in charts
- Book appointments for clients with other medical and laboratory service providers
- Explore/advocate for care options for marginalized clients unable to access mainstream sexual health care beyond IWHC Toronto’s mandate
- Sell contraceptive products and medications to clients
Community Outreach:
- Maintain existing and solicit new service relationships with partner agencies (by phone or on-line during Covid)
- Coordinate existing and create new delivery of services among target community members and partner agencies
- Promote sexual health information and education
- Serve as IWHC Toronto’s representative in ethnic and local media consultations on sexual health issues
- Provide sexual health resources and educational materials as well as all relevant information about IWHC’s services
- Provide a written report/feedback of any outreach/media event
- Where required, develop, deliver and/or assist in the coordination of IWHC Toronto’s online and social media campaigns
Centre Support
- As trained, provide front desk support where necessary
- As trained, provide Clinic Clerk support as required
- Keep up-to-date and informed about standards, changes and developments in the field of sexual health
- From time to time, IWHC Toronto and its Medical Director will provide bulletins, updates and other correspondence with regards to IWHC Toronto’s operations and clinical practice; as such, review and remain apprised of all information that is sent in these regards
- Participate in IWHC Toronto staff program meetings, workshops, information sessions as required
- Other duties as assigned
