Quality and Safety Manager - Oakville Senior Citizens Residence
Position: Quality and Safety Manager – Full Time
Purpose of Position: To manage OSCR’s health and safety programs ensuring the organization is compliant with legislation. To provide leadership and support to reduce or prevent hazards, dangers and accidents. To promote a “Safety Culture” within the organization.
To review, evaluate and analyse work environments and design programs, policy and procedures to control, eliminate and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical and biological agents or ergonomic factors.
May conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing health and safety of individuals.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, flexible and decisive. Candidates must have an Undergraduate Degree, preferably with a health and safety or nursing background.
Working knowledge of changes associated with aging as related to behaviour, sociability and mobility.
Must be current with labour laws, OH&S laws, WHMIS, IPAC, Workplace Violence, Ergonomics, Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness. Proficient in Word, Excel and Power Point.
Directly supervises 10+ employees, including scheduling, work assignments and employee matters.
Leadership ability to direct department in the Director’s absence.
Experience: Three to five years of previous health and safety experience, preferably in a healthcare or equivalent setting.
Preference will be given to candidates with supervisory experience.
Hours: May vary, some weekends.
