Location: Vaughan Office with occasional travel within York and South Simcoe
The Psychological Associate (PA) / MA-Level Psychologist supports and monitors the Bounce Back team, who provides Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) based structured telephone coaching to people living with mild to moderate mood disorders. The PA provides clinical oversight to Bounce Back Coaches, including: (1) reviews risk reports, (2) provides clinical recommendations specific to participant risk assessment, (3) reviews audio recordings when necessary, and (4) holds monthly clinical consultations for the coaches.
The Psychological Associate is responsible to assist with the training of the team, within an existing program fidelity model, and ongoing supervision to ensure quality, fidelity, and assist with the professional development of the team. They will actively contribute to quality improvement of the program, and participate in research activities. Training and support will be provided to the PA by a Ph.D.-Level Clinical Psychologist on the team.
The Psychological Associate will also be responsible for demonstrating a thorough understanding of assessing different levels of risk (low, moderate, high), and is familiar with pertinent provincial legislation that includes: Mental Health Act, Health Consent Act, PHIPA, the Substitute Decisions Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, and Ontario Human Rights Code.
In addition to compliance with all organizational policies and procedures, the incumbent is also expected to behave ethically, demonstrate competence in effective communication and team building, demonstrate effectiveness in working in a collaborative environment, and demonstrate confidence in decision-making and in building relationships.
- Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, or its equivalent
- Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, with competencies in Clinical Psychology, with Adults and preferably with Adolescents
- Extensive knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including training
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a mental health setting, such as a hospital, psychiatric facility, community agency, outreach work
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity
- Experience with risk management and crisis work
- Experience working and providing feedback through non face-to-face methods
- Extensive supervised clinical experience delivering cognitive-behavioral therapy (e.g., accredited internship or multiple practical with a CBT focus)
- Experience teaching/training/supervising other mental health clinicians in delivery of CBT
- Ability to work flexible working hours
- Training and knowledge in Cognitive-Behavior Therapy delivery
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of local and regional mental health services
- A second language (French, Cantonese, Farsi, Italian, Korean, Mandarin, Punjabi, Russian, Tamil, Urdu) reflecting the local community is preferred
- Knowledge of various legislations and standards for the practice of psychology in Canada
- Ability to research and analyze complex information and provide program recommendations based on psychological and educational needs
- Knowledge of the Ontario Mental Health Act, mental health reform principles, the Substitute Decisions Act, the Health Care Consent Act and PHIPA requirements
- Extensive knowledge of supports and services in York Region, including formal and informal resources
- Demonstrates understanding of legal requirements of limits of confidentiality in Ontario/has understanding of relevant legal statutes
- A valid Canadian driver’s license
- A minimum $1,000,000.00 third party liability insurance
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check)
This position reports to, and is supervised, by the Director of Services, Bounce Back Program
