You are a self-motivated philanthropy specialist who is equally adept at communicating with computers as you are at communicating with people. You are passionate about how technology can help grantmakers have greater impact on causes you care about. You’re also a design thinker—you’re empathetic, curious about the human condition, and understand how design can make a difference in how technology affects the world.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Philanthropy Solutions Consultants are responsible for managing projects to completion and contributing to the research, analysis, and production of materials that constitute project deliverables. The Philanthropy Solutions Consultant serves as the primary liaison between the client and Grantbook. The role reports to Grantbook’s Director of Client Services.

YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead system design (primarily of configurable systems), including product visioning, feature priorities, design principles and service design

  • Lead in technology workshops around Foundation IT strategy and solution selection

  • Conducting workshops including service blueprinting, experience design, and form and process development

  • Working with implementation teams to ensure that solutions implementations meet the intended product vision

  • Facilitate the creation of mock-ups or prototyping where necessary to help clients make informed decisions quickly

  • Advocating for users at the centre of all work, ensuring that their needs and context are met (e.g. solution design to training design)

  • Help build and maintain a repository of design assets for future client use

  • Build and maintain client relationships through project delivery

  • Working with a project team, ensure that key deadlines and deliverables are met throughout a project’s life cycle

  • Prepare and share weekly project updates, including summaries of milestones completed and upcoming, observed risks, current issues, and budget alignment

  • Draft, submit, and present recommendations for proposed technology, process, strategic or other solutions and related materials, including kick-off decks, assessment & recommendation decks, RFP drafts, and project reports

  • Facilitate client meetings and workshops around technology use, processes, data and digital strategy

  • Support and coordinate with other Grantbook team members and partners in setting up and deploying approved cloud solutions. This responsibility may involve hands-on software configuration and functional testing, in which cases internal training will be provided

  • Help train and support client/users on the implemented technology solutions

  • Track and evaluate technology adoption of implemented cloud solutions

  • Capture and share lessons learned from projects

  • Identify additional opportunities for Grantbook to add value

  • Occasional travel to client sites across North America as required

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide feedback and help enhance Grantbook’s overall operations

  • Contribute to building Grantbook’s institutional knowledge through delivering informal team training, contributing to an internal wiki, and other methods of information sharing

  • Support Grantbook’s marketing & sales efforts

  • Have fun, work as a team, and "get it done"

  • Other duties as reasonably assigned

WHAT YOU CAN OFFER

  • 3-5 years of philanthropy sector and/or nonprofit experience, ideally with a grants management, technology, process or data focus, or equivalent

  • Strong problem identification and solutions design skills

  • Possesses a robust design workshop toolkit: ie Appreciative Inquiry, affinity mapping, retrospectives (learn, long, love), etc.

  • Comfort whiteboarding on-the-fly to to gather data quickly, synthesize, communicate and visualize big concepts

  • Knowledge of wireframing and artefact creation

  • Affinity for wrangling amorphous, ambiguous, complex client scenarios into a clear path forward

  • High proficiency in the use of cloud solutions for grants management, office productivity, data visualization, or accounting

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas to a non-technical audience both verbally and in writing

  • Self-organizer and problem-solver who thinks creatively, and can meet tight deadlines across multiple projects

  • Proven interpersonal skills and a client-focused approach

HOW YOU’LL BENEFIT

SALARY & BENEFITS

Grantbook boasts a tiered salary structure. Your tier and the accompanying compensation will be determined by the experience and skills you bring to the team. We are seeking a more Experienced Team Member. The salary starts at $68,370.02 + a variable compensation plan. For this position we expect three-five years of experience in the philanthropic or nonprofit sector. Experience with Grants Management Systems and technology implementations are a definite plus. 

In addition, we are always open to conversations with exceptional candidates. If you are more advanced in your career we’d still love to hear from you. We will determine the appropriate salary tier for your candidacy during the interview process. In your cover letter, please indicate the salary tier or experience level you believe you are best qualified for. Our salary tiers are as follows: 

  • Tier A, Entry-level Team Members: $62,154.57

  • Tier B, Team Members: $68,370.02 

  • Tier C, Skilled Team Members: $74,585.48 

  • Tier D, Experienced Team Members: $80,800.93
