Operations Manager

ehm provides food, support and housing to Toronto’s most vulnerable, and has maintained our services throughout the COVID pandemic, but we need someone to help manage the increased demands that come with health and safety protocol so that our programs can continue growing and meeting the needs of more community members. As a leader in industry best-practices, we also need you to help us meet our certification and accreditation goals.  

You will assist people who are facing poverty, homelessness, and mental and physical health challenges by working with the management team to keep our systems and infrastructure organized! 

Scope 

How will you do all this? You will: 

  • be integral in the planning and execution of ehm’s business continuity and risk management plan;  

  • oversee and manage our health and safety protocols (including act as the co-chair the Health and Safety Committee);  

  • support our HR practices by helping to update our policies, and to train and support staff to implement our procedures, and employee handbooks; 

  • manage our equipment and inventory, including our growing supply of PPE;  

  • work with staff and our finance department to coordinate invoicing, and review budgets and expenses to identify trends, and possible efficiencies; 

  • help departments communicate, coordinate and collaborate by making sure information is being shared, by seeking feedback on new procedures, mapping out workflow, and suggesting tools and software to digitize these processes; 

  • work with the leadership team to review and manage our partnership and funding agreements; and 

  • manage our quality assurance activities by managing our data collection activities and our accreditation and certification processes.

  • You have very strong computer skills and can learn new software and digital tools quickly; and 

  • You are known for your exceptional organizational skills. 

Skills and Experience 

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a management role, preferably in a non-profit environment 

  • Post-secondary diploma in business or related field 

  • Experience with risk management, compliance and standards 

  • Experience working with a wide range of digital software 

  • Experiencing in managing a department budget and financial management

Your Schedule 

  • This is a full-time, 18 month contract position. 

  • 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. 

Work location and safety 

  • ehm is an essential service under pandemic related emergency orders and will remain open throughout the pandemic. This position is a critical part of ehm’s business continuity and risk management planning. As an essential worker, you will be working full time on the ehm premises, except where accommodation is required due to required self-isolation.  

  • ehm has implemented very strong health and safety practices, supplies all staff and volunteers with required PPE, and require all clients, visitors and contractors to comply with preventative measures established by Toronto Public Health.
