NCSY and Torah High, Canada’s premier national outreach and education organizations for Jewish youth, are looking for a National Director of Development to join our team. 

The National Director of Development holds accountability for creating the vision, planning, executing, and establishing a strategic direction for the overall fundraising portfolio to achieve the organization’s short and long-term fundraising revenue growth plans, with a particular focus on major gifts and campaigns.The successful candidate thrives by liaising with executives, current and prospective donors to secure funding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and be accountable for the creation, implementation, management and evaluation of a fully integrated and diverse fund development program consisting of corporate and foundation support, major gifts and planned giving

  • Establish, maintain, and develop relationships with current and prospective funders and other stakeholders

  • Develop and execute an implementation plan that is phased and segmented to reach mutually agreed upon fundraising goals in the short-term and long-term across Canada

  • Develop KPIs and ensure accurate tracking of all costs and donations to facilitate reporting

  • Ensure all fund development aligns to the brand and marketing strategy, to promote and maximize public awareness of the organization and its mission

  • Develop, manage and report on budgets related to fundraising efforts

  • Research and proactively identify opportunities for prospective funding sourcing

  • Prepare funding proposals for prospective opportunities

  • Prepare contact reports and necessary follow up materials

  • Work closely with the internal executive team to ensure all fundraising initiatives are coordinated and optimized and to solve any issues that arise

  • Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and regional expansion 

  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand

  • Develop and implement engagement and cultivation strategies for prospects and existing donors

  • Manage fundraising associates, both regionally and nationally, to achieve key goals

  • Provide updates and reports to senior leadership, and donors, on the status of fundraising projections, and achievements

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of senior management experience; track record of effectively leading and regionally and/or nationally scaling a performance - and outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth

  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation

  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget

  • Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships

  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills

  • Proven track record with an ability to motivate, cultivate, solicit and close gifts from prospects and donors

  • A passion for Jewish engagement and the mission of Jewish outreach and education with knowledge of the Jewish Community
