The Canadian Bar Association is the voice of the legal profession, providing professional development and networking opportunities to law students and members of the Canadian bar.  The CBA Alberta Branch is looking for a full-time Member Services Coordinator based in our downtown Edmonton office to provide coverage for a maternity leave and support the activities of our engaged membership.

The Member Services Coordinator is on a continual search for new and more effective approaches to meet member needs and to fulfill CBA’s goals and objectives.  Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Member Services Coordinator provides support for a variety of CBA membership initiatives, including mentorship, member and firm strategies and member intelligence and analytics.  The Member Services Coordinator provides a high level of customer service, including building strong relationships with all types of members, as well as potential members, stakeholders and partners.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading provincial membership strategy including a special focus on young lawyers and law firms
  • Providing high level customer service for members to resolve issues and respond to questions
  • Supporting and expanding mentorship programs
  • Organizing special member events, online and in-person
  • Membership data analytics
  • Backup support for other regular member professional development meetings

The qualified candidate has:

  • Post-secondary education and training in communications, marketing or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum of 4 years work experience in membership programs or communications and marketing or other relevant experience
  • Demonstrated customer-service mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and is highly articulate with demonstrated knowledge and skills in English language and grammar
  • Solid computer and digital skills: Microsoft Office, especially Excel a must. Basic skills in database and/or content management systems, social media tools and data analytics experience are also an asset, as is an aptitude for A/V troubleshooting 
  • High expectations for quality, and an ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • An ability to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, meet deadlines with little supervision, willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends, and undertake potential travel within Alberta
  • Ability to take initiative to develop new strategies and collaborate for innovation
