Member of the STAO Board of Directors - Science Teachers' Association of Ontario (STAO)
The Science Teachers Association of Ontario (STAO) is the voice for science educators across the province. The resources we provide to educators and our relationships with schools and school boards aim to encourage excellence in the teaching of science. We support professional learning for elementary and high school educators through our annual conference, workshops, online resources, and opportunities for collaboration with science experts and other educators.
We are looking for a new non-educator to join our Board and complement the skills of the educators and members-at-large who now serve on our Board. At the present time, we are particularly interested in candidates with government relations, fundraising, marketing and communication skills, and demonstrated leadership in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion. We are looking for dynamic individuals to assist us during a period of growth and transformation.
STAO is an organization that values the variety of experiences and perspectives that are contributed by a diverse and inclusive Board and are looking to improve as an organization in this area. To ensure that we are committing to our stated value of inclusiveness, we encourage qualified applicants, regardless of race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability or age, with a demonstrated commitment to furthering science education in Ontario to apply for this opening.
To apply for this position, please send a copy of your resume and an expression of interest to the Chair of STAO’s Governance & Nominating Committee, Dr. Ralph Chou at Ralph.Chou@STAO.ca.
