Marketing Specialist - Durham Region Unemployed Help Centre

Durham Region Unemployed Help Centre is seeking a Marketing Specialist to create and implement a marketing strategy to increase referrals to job search programs. The Marketing Specialist will design and create new graphics and marketing materials that meet the objectives of the marketing strategy; results in demonstrable increase service use.

Major Duties

  • Create and implement a marketing strategy that will increase referrals of targeted individuals to programs to support their job search.
  • Evaluate existing marketing materials to determine effective messaging, and identify new promotional opportunities to leverage existing materials.
  • Design and create new graphics/ marketing materials that meet the objectives of the marketing strategy.
  • Coordinate distribution of new and existing marketing and promotional materials via various print and social media channels.
  • Conduct surveys and gather data to evaluate community knowledge of DRUHC services.
  • Submit report to management outlining recommended quarterly and annual marketing strategies.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly marketing reports to be submitted to Program Manager and Executive Director

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Demonstrable results from prior work experience in developing and implementing effective marketing strategies
  • Academic training and Experience in graphic design.
  • Excellent design skills and experience marketing on various platforms.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent organizational and time-management ability to multi-task
  • Strong project self-management skills, detail oriented
  • Ability to interpret data and insights to inform strategies and campaign optimizations
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, graphic design tools and social media platforms including Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Graphic Design, Advertising, or a related field.
  • Two or more years’ experience developing and implementing strategic marketing plans.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, graphic design tools and social media platforms including Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook

Working Conditions:

  • Consistent computer work in an open office environment.
  • Little exposure to hazards.

  • Organization/Plan: Maintain and organize working area, materials, files, set priorities and monitor progress.
  • Solve Problems: Assess problem situations, identify causes, gather relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem including advising management when warranted.
