Marketing Assistant - Arts on the Ave Edmonton Society

Arts on the Ave Edmonton Society is a registered charitable organization engaged in developing 118th Avenue (75-106 Streets) into a community arts district. In one of the most vulnerable areas in Edmonton, Arts on the Ave works to positively impact the cultural and social challenges faced by the people living in the community. The mission of Arts on the Ave is to be an artistic, creative and innovative leader who engages all to build community, inspire, and be inspired across the globe. Arts on the Ave organizes and presents a broad range of activities: a volunteer-powered coffee house, The Carrot Community Arts Coffeehouse, two annual community arts festivals, extensive art showings, a variety of interdisciplinary events, as well as activities that are a blend of artistic expressions in an educational, mentoring and sharing environment.

The Marketing Assistant will:

  • Work with the Arts Administrator and Communications Coordinator to support in posting and management of the Deep Freeze¬†website and social media platforms

  • Work with the Arts Administrator and Communications Coordinator to support in posting and management of The Carrot Community Arts Coffeehouse and Arts on the Ave website and social media platforms

  • Work with artists to post their biographies and support them in posting on social media during summer programming

  • Work with the Arts Administrator and Communications Coordinator to support marketing The Carrot Community Arts Coffeehouse Online Store

  • Work with the team to develop and market pop-ups throughout the winter

  • Collect data from social media platforms and website to share with the team

  • Experience or interest in arts/cultural festivals and community events is an asset

Qualifications

  • is an enthusiastic, self-starter who is flexible and resourceful;

  • enjoys working in a fast-paced, fun environment;

  • has a keen interest and/or experience or studies in an arts or administrative field;

  • has excellent writing and communication skills;

  • works well in team settings with excellent customer service skills;

  • is organized, responsible and reliable;

  • has a driver's license (required) and own transportation (required)

  • possesses a good knowledge of social media marketing tools;

  • has good computer skills. A working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is an asset.
