Purpose of Position
The ICS Coordinator/Trainer will coordinate training for health service providers and other sectors in Ottawa and across the region.
Some of the responsibilities of this position are:
- Lead the ICS team to successfully deliver ICS training to health service providers and providers from other sectors;
- Work in collaboration with the Director with decision makers and leaders to develop strategies that will improve organizational commitments and accountability for embedding ICS within organizations and health systems;
- Work in collaboration with the Director to plan, allocate, monitor and assess the need for the online ICS training and help organizations develop comprehensive ICS training plans;
- Actively promote the ICS training to relevant health service provider organizations and other sectors;
- Recruit and train external facilitators to assist the ICS team to deliver the ICS training;
- Work in collaboration with the ICS team with guidance from Wabano leadership on future expansion of the ICS training;
- Work in collaboration with the Director and team members on a training evaluation framework;
- Deliver an annual ICS Speakers series which includes planning, promoting and coordinating events;
- Lead and deliver other Wabano events throughout the year as required;
- Register and monitor progress of participants in the online training;
- Prepare and report on health service provider training as required;
- Oversee the scheduling and delivery of ICS training.
- Post-secondary completion at degree level or higher in a relevant program of study (Indigenous studies, Education, etc.);
- Two years of experience providing workshops, group facilitation, or other speaking public speaking initiatives, or aptitude and interest to learn and gain experience;
- Demonstrated experience in program and/or project management;
- Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple training events in a corporate setting;
- Familiarity with training methods and/or elearning platforms;
- Knowledge of education and training techniques, curriculum development and program evaluation methodologies an asset;
- Proven ability to multi-task and complete multiple assignments simultaneously;
- Knowledge of Indigenous history and communities in Canada, cultural interference, social determinants of health and Ontario’s Indigenous health policy and direction;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends;
- Ability to travel throughout the region as required;
- Clear criminal reference check to work with vulnerable population is required.
