Canadian Center for Women 's Empowerment (CCFWE) believes that volunteers are a fundamental part of the services offered to domestic violence survivors.  Volunteers complement the existing services and enable the program to provide intensive support to women. The involvement of volunteers increases community participation and community awareness about violence against women. As our volunteer Human Resources Recruitment Specialist you will help the organizations recruiting needs for a variety of positions. 

 Your roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Support recruitment strategies to attract top-level talent (creating job advertisements and postings, screening resumes, scheduling, and participating in interviews, completing candidate reference checks, creating and delivering employment offers);

  • Screening resumes in collaboration with the Manager;

  • Making the first contact with candidates and performing a first phone screen to shortlist applicants;

  • Supporting the maintenance of our shared organizational files;

  • Oversee new hire orientations and onboarding practices;

  • Identifying future hiring needs and developing job descriptions and specifications.

  • Collaborating with department managers to compile a consistent list of requirements.

  • Attracting suitable candidates through databases, online employment forums, social media, etc.

  • Completing paperwork for new hires.

  • Keeping up-to-date on current employment volunteer management and regulations and enforcing them within the company.

  • Providing recruitment reports to team managers.

  • Contribute to HR policy development and documentation.

About You:

Our preferred candidate will have a degree or certificate in Human Resources Management or a related field with a minimum of  2 years’ experience in a recruiting role in the non for-profit sector. Strong communication skills, being professional in matters of ethics and confidentiality, and having excellent people skills are a must. Knowledge, experience, and understanding of volunteer-led organizational challenges would be a “nice to have” addition to those attributes.

Location - Home based, can be done virtually from anywhere in Canada. 

Expectations regarding a time commitment would be in the range of 4-6 hours per week on average. Minimum 3 months commitment.

This is a volunteer position that could potentially lead to other roles within the organization as we grow, fundraise, and add full-time staff.
