Opportunity – Grants & Administration Officer, McCall MacBain Foundation
The McCall MacBain Foundation is seeking a highly driven emerging professional to join our team as a Grants & Administration Officer. In this role, you will help manage our relationships with grantees doing outstanding work across our three funding areas – Education, Environment & Climate Change, and Health. You will also stay up to date on the work our grantees are doing, help us learn from them, and share their work and insights through various communications channels. You will help us coordinate gatherings and events with grantees and partners.
Working with a small, motivated team in downtown Toronto, the Grants & Administration Officer will report to the VP Philanthropy & Organizational Learning, and will collaborate closely with all team members.

You have great written communications skills. Whether you’re writing a briefing document or a tweet, you are clear and compelling.

Key Areas of Responsibility
- For all grantees, manage the grants cycle – this includes receiving proposals from prospective grantees, seeking Board approval to support the proposals, signing grant agreements with grantees, making payments, receiving reports, etc.
- Manage communications with grantees, including setting up meetings, preparing agendas and briefing materials, capturing action items from meetings and ensuring timely follow up
- Manage our grants database, keeping information about grantees, grants and partners up to date
- Organize events and meetings with community members, government, non-profit organizations, political leaders, and others
- Keep up to date with the work of grantees and of work in our funding areas through regular research and social media tracking; keep our team up to date through regular verbal and written briefings
- Prepare written communications for Board documents, newsletters and other internal and external media
- Work with our Communications Officer to build and execute a social media strategy that enables us to share the work of our grantees, as well as our own insights in our funding areas
The ideal candidate is a self-starter and will be an energetic team member. More specifically, we are looking for:

- Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to prepare clear and concise reports
- Demonstrated ability to work on diverse projects and activities simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to establish and manage relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have extreme attention to detail
- Be agile, creative
- Exercise sound judgement and discretion in all aspects of work and professional relationships, including managing confidential information
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, and to meet deadlines
- Ability to give and take constructive feedback
- Sense of humour
- Curiosity and desire to learn
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
- Post-secondary degree
