Fund Development Manager - Platform

Manager, Fund Development

  • Location: Remote / Anywhere in what is currently known as Canada

  • Duration: May 2021-March 2023

  • Term: full time - 32 hours a week (4-day work week, some weekend availability required)

  • Salary: The gross annual salary for this role is $55,000.00 CAD

  • Start Date:  As soon as possible

  • Reports to: Managing Director

  • Vacation: 15 vacation days, 15 sick days, 5 personal days, organization-wide summer and winter break

  • Internet access support: $50/month

The position and profile 

Utilizing a strong project management approach, the Fund Development Manager will facilitate the planning, implementation and evaluation of fund development and fundraising activities for Platform. Working collaboratively with the Managing Director, the Fund Development Manager will focus on all aspects of fund development including but not limited to: identification of prospective grants and donors, development and maintenance of the donor database system, donor events and/or annual campaigns, and development and implementation of a donor stewardship program.

This position requires a strong background in fund development and donor stewardship, system and strategic thinking, and strong project management skills. 

A successful applicant will have 

  • Fund development experience including grant and proposal writing, and donor cultivation is required for this position

  • A deep understanding of intersectionality and the issues impacting Black, Indigenous, and racialized young women and gender-diverse youth

  • Proven track record in designing and implementing fund development campaigns and activities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proven ability to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders

  • Familiarity with giving cycles (individual and organizational)

  • Ability to prepare and manage financial records and budget

  • Ability to effectively lead multiple projects in collaboration with a small team 

  • Effective written and oral communication skills in French is an asset

Responsibilities 

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Fund Development Manager provides leadership for, and oversees the planning, development, and implementation of Platform’s fund development strategy, campaigns, and activities. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Strategic leadership

    • Develop and implement Platform’s fund development strategy in collaboration with the Managing Director, including fundraising calendar, digital fundraising and monthly donation campaigns to increase revenue 

    • Identify grants and write grant applications in accordance with fund development and program priorities 

    • Identify and cultivate relationships with key corporate and organizational donors and sponsors

    • Develop fund development proposals, pitch decks, and sponsorship packages to communicate Platform’s priorities with potential donors

    • Work with external consultants and the broader Platform team to diversify the organization’s fund development portfolio

  • Relationship Management

    • Maintain and grow relationships with donors, partners, and funders 

    • Steward relationships with potential donors and partners

    • Collaborate with the rest of the team to identify the priorities of Platform’s audience, donors, and partners 

    • Create and enforce a standardized but flexible approach towards fund development
