Food Truck Coordinator - Taste of Heaven (TOH) Catering and Outreach - NightShift Street Ministries

May 11, 2021
Surrey, British Columbia

Taste of Heaven (TOH) serves dual purposes: as a professional food truck for hire (serving delicious gourmet sausages in a bun while garnering awareness for NightShift); and it is also an outreach vehicle for volunteer teams to serve hot meals to people in need in our communities. Sounds amazing, right?! Now we need you to coordinate it.

WHO WE ARE

NightShift Street Ministries is a not-for-profit organization, committed to reaching out to people struggling on the street with homelessness, poverty, addictions and mental illness. We do this by providing a hot meal, 365 nights a year, clothing and blankets, along with basic nursing, counselling, drop-in programs, referrals, advocacy, access to recovery and housing and more!  NightShift is a Christian faith-based ministry dedicated to sharing unconditional love, and helping each other find hope and purpose. Our core values are integrity, humility, perseverance and unity.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone to coordinate the activities of NightShift’s special social enterprise, Taste of Heaven (TOH) food truck. TOH serves dual purposes: as a professional food truck for hire (serving delicious gourmet sausages in a bun while garnering awareness for NightShift); and it is also an outreach vehicle for volunteer teams to serve hot meals to people in need in our communities. Sounds amazing, right?!

The successful candidate is a real “people person”, who loves teamwork. You are a go-getter, who is motivated by knowing your work is positively impacting our communities, as both a catering and an outreach vehicle. And you’re as comfortable in the kitchen as you are out and about because the TOH Coordinator is responsible for supporting all aspects of our catering events, and also oversight to the food truck as it serves in outreach. As well as overseeing volunteers, your winning ways will have you engaging positively with customers at catering events, along with compassionately connecting with people in need at outreach meals.

The schedule requires flexibility, with the ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary. When you’re not busy working on the food truck, you will be able to do a little administration and coordinating work behind the scenes.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Experience working in a kitchen environment, catering business or food truck is an asset.
  • You have a culinary or cooking background, as this job includes some food prep and basic cooking.
  • Class 5 driver’s licence and experience driving a truck.
  • Previous experience working or volunteering in support of fundraising events is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • FoodSafe Level 1.
  • Flexible work schedule to accommodate the needs of the business.

We thank all applicants for their interest in this position. Only applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.
