Canadian Center for Women’s Empowerment (CCFWE) is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to empowering domestic violence survivors through advocacy and mentorship.  We believe that volunteers are a fundamental part of the services offered to domestic violence survivors. Volunteers complement the existing services and enable the program to provide intensive support to women.

Our Entrepreneurship program helps women who plan to start a business, develop a business plan, and learn branding, marketing, and financing options. This helps to generate income by working for themselves, with the goal of contributing to a financial safety plan. We believe that entrepreneurism is one important option for providing women with opportunities to generate their own income, celebrate their unique skills, and self-determine aspects of their employment circumstances. The program specifically works with women experiencing violence to create a simple business plan that outlines how they might generate income by working for themselves, with the goal of contributing to a financial safety plan. CCFWE supports business plan development, registration, marketing and connect to the community resources. CCFWE will create and facilitate a network of survivor entrepreneurs across Canada through a social enterprise digital platform.

As our volunteer Entrepreneurship and Innovation Director, you will focus on engaging new clients, developing business model, market research, developing community partnerships, furthering women entrepreneurship initiatives, and assisting in the development and delivery of innovative projects.

This position requires a high degree of professionalism, energy, adaptability, and attention to detail with a strong ability to strengthen relationships, collaborate and respond to constituent needs. 

What you will do:

  • Define the strategic direction  for the program

  • Works with partners such as local economic development agencies, Small Business Centre, Business Resource Centre, and Business Advisory Services to establish the ecosystem 

  • Develop, market and present information about Economic Empowerment Program model

  • Building a collaboration platform for women to access resources and interact 

  • Prioritize and focus on a few areas to build skills 

  • Identify some niche areas in the marketplace 

  • Participate on proposal writing 

  • Build a mentoring program and encouraging women in the program to support others 

  • Build toolkits for business plan, communication plan & market research 




  • Degree in a related field plus 5 or more years of progressive

management experience in a nonprofit or government


  • Solid understanding of the complexity and intersectionality of

Domestic violence and Economic Empowerment 

  • Excellent business management skills, including experience mentoring and developing business plan or entrepreneurship

  • Experience in business management, entrepreneurship, strategy & curriculum development, monitoring, and evaluation

  • Knowledge of community resources 

  • Creative problem-solving skills, with the proven ability to advocate

and gain support from others for new ideas

  • Solid knowledge and demonstrable experience in the application of

leadership and management principles as they relate to non-

profit/voluntary organizations

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook,

  • Excel, PowerPoint), Use of funder reporting tools

  • Have the ability to understand and maintain confidentiality Commitment 


LEVEL OF COMMITMENT - Very flexible we will work with your schedule. Remote work , home-based  6-8  hours / week. Minimum 3 months commitment is mandatory
