E-Magazine Content Contributor - Peel Community Climate Council

Oct 04, 2020
Various Locations, Ontario

Peel Community Climate Council is calling for submissions for our first e-magazine  - The Epoch.

Epoch is an extended period of time usually characterized by a distinctive development or by a memorable series of events.

Our small-circulation, self-published Zine will feature a collection of community-contributed art, texts and images.

We want to know what the climate movement means, feels and looks like to you.

This opportunity is open to all ages – children and youth strongly encouraged to participate.

Some prompts to consider:

  • Ask your young siblings or cousins to draw a picture of their favourite animal and ask them what climate change means to them
  • If you have grandparents who immigrated from a different country, ask them to share their experience farming, coming to Canada, and/or encounters with wildlife back home
  • Do your parents/grandparents/friends have tips on how to be sustainable while grocery shopping? Are you aware of any cultural sustainable practices your family practices?

Additional examples of accepted* mediums:

  • Artwork
  • Essays
  • Poetry
  • Short Stories (fiction and non-fiction)
  • Photographs
  • Op-Eds
  • Embeddable Videos

*If you have a piece that does not fit in the categories above, please reach out to us.  Ideally, the work must be able to be printed and/or shared via a digital publishing platform.

Content contributors will receive a free copy of the e-magazine, and the youth contributors will be entered in a raffle to win a Children’s book from Equicool.

The deadline for submissions is July 31st 2020. Please email us at commclimatecouncil@gmail.com
