To do so, we are making a step-change in our executive leadership team, of which the Director of Engagement would play a crucial part.
About the Director of Engagement
As a member of the newly-forming executive leadership team, the Director of Engagement (DE) will strategically lead Youth Unlimited’s connection with donors, external stakeholders, and potential staff and volunteers in order to grow the impact of our various initiatives across the city.
The DE has the opportunity to shape Youth Unlimited’s strategy and to build on an inspired and engaged network of more than 3,000 financial partners. Through team leadership, effective communication strategies, and relationship-building, the DE plays a vital role in supporting the sustainable growth and impact of Youth Unlimited’s ministries throughout Toronto. Specifically, in this role you’d be responsible for:
Overseeing the Communications, Development (Fundraising), and Recruitment functions of the organization;
Overseeing and developing a healthy and interdependent team in these areas;
Developing and implementing all central communications from YU to external stakeholders;
Overseeing strategic fundraising initiatives including events, grant applications, and donor relationships; and
Engaging YU ministry leaders to collaboratively and effectively build and implement recruiting strategies for roles throughout the organization.
This position is full-time working from our Jonesville Crescent Office in North York, but with flexibility to work from home for one or two days per week. The salary for this position is determined on a scale based on education and experience and is funded in part on a missionary basis, requiring the gathering of a personal support team.
We are looking for someone with:
A passion and heart to see the transformation of young people in the Greater Toronto Area, particularly among those experiencing vulnerability;
A deep love for Jesus and a desire to serve in their gifting and lean into others’ gifting;
A servant-oriented leader with communications expertise, strong networking skills, and strategic insight to facilitate organizational growth;
The self-initiative and ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team;
Education, experience, or expertise in the area of communications. Experience or skills in fundraising and marketing would be an asset to the role.
