The Director, Educator & Volunteer Engagement drives strategic initiatives to recruit and retain volunteers and secure program delivery partners, enabling JABC to achieve program delivery goals. This leadership role focuses on building meaningful relationships, leading a high-performing team, and fostering innovative strategies to expand JABC’s impact.
Reports To: President & CEO. Direct Reports: Manager, Coordinator, Business Development. Collaborates With: President & CEO, Leadership team, Program Managers
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Develops and executes strategies to attract and retain volunteers, ensuring JABC achieves and continues to expand program delivery goals.
- Creates innovative approaches to recruit delivery partners, including educators, NGOs, and community groups.
- Aligns business development initiatives with JABC’s organizational mission and long-term objectives.
Team Management:
- Builds and leads a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture.
- Provides coaching, resources, and development opportunities to empower team members to excel in their roles.
Partnership Cultivation:
- Develops and stewards key relationships with BC School Districts leaders and other delivery partners that support the continued expansion of JABC’s program reach.
- Negotiates and formalizes mutually beneficial partnership agreements.
- Collaborates across all areas of work to support inclusive practices and initiatives, ensuring support, development and stewardship of JABC’s interest holders.
Operational Excellence:
- Develops and tracks key performance indicators leveraging data to optimize strategies and evaluate success.
- Ensures accurate and timely maintenance of data and records, enabling informed decision-making and reporting.
- Upholds operational standards by maintaining accurate and up-to-date data, ensuring consistency and reliability in reporting processes.
- Demonstrates a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, by integrating principles into decision-making and interactions.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in business, marketing, sales or related discipline
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in business development, with at least 3 years leading a high-performing team.
- Proven ability to analyze market trends and data to inform strategies and achieve measurable results.
- Exceptional communication skills, with a proven ability to deliver compelling presentations and engage diverse audiences to inspire action and build partnerships.
- Strong negotiation skills, with a track record of securing impactful partnerships.
- Track record of driving measurable growth in business development initiatives.
- Experience leading high-performing teams to meet ambitious targets.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire collaboration and foster a results-oriented team culture.
- Innovative thinking and adaptability to evolving market and organizational needs.
- Embodies and champions JABC’s core values and mission, fostering an environment of respect, collaboration, and innovation.
- Familiarity with the non-profit sector, BC’s business ecosystem, and the K-12 education system.

Work Location and Requirements:
This position is based in the Lower Mainland, BC, requiring a minimum of three days per week working in JABC’s downtown Vancouver office and/or in the field with the flexibility to work remotely on other days. Local and regional travel is required to meet with stakeholders, attend meetings, events, and organizational activities.
Compensation
This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The salary range of this position is $75,000 – $85,000 per annum. Employment offers are determined by knowledge, experience, and internal equity.
