Position Overview
As the ideal candidate, you are an engaging visionary with strong strategic and conceptual fundraising skills. You are respected by peers and staff as a compelling communicator, a trusted and sought out relationship builder and a highly effective motivator. Your capacity and commitment to drive fundraising / development growth in times of economic pressure and the flexibility and resilience to act as a public face for Dress for Success Toronto with current and prospective donors will be highly valued. As an experienced fundraising/development leader, you are known to set clear priorities, achieve targets and deadlines and rally donors and supporters around a shared vision. You bring a knowledge and understanding of philanthropy in the non-profit sector. Given the nature of the position, some evening and weekend work will be required to attend and support DFS Toronto events.

Education / Experience
  • University degree from a recognized post-secondary institution and at least five (5) years of senior fundraising experience, ideally in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation would be an asset.
  • Strong project management abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Event planning experience is an asset.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Comprehensive Fundraising Planning
  • Conceptualize, articulate, and implement an innovative strategic direction for fundraising/development for DFS Toronto and translate that strategy into successful programs, initiatives, and campaigns.
  • Identify potential new donors and develop engagement strategies.
  • Identify and implement best practices for ethical solicitation, follow-through, and evaluation.
Strategic Donor Acquisition & Management
  • Implement a comprehensive strategy for major and planned gifts.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to create a robust and well-researched donor prospect research program.
Donor Stewardship and Recognition
  • Cultivate donor loyalty and growth through a robust stewardship and recognition strategy.
Fundraising Activities and Events
  • Lead various fundraising activities, including campaigns, internal and 3rd party events.
Community Engagement
  • Actively engage community partners, sponsors, prospects, and donors to exceed fundraising goals and enhance the organization's public image.
Innovative Funding Opportunities
  • Identify new, innovative fundraising and growth opportunities through partnerships.
Campaign and Donor Analysis
  • Oversee fundraising campaigns and donor data analysis, monitoring results, preparing reports, and analyzing trends.
Budget Management
  • Manage and monitor fundraising budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and maximizing revenue generation.
