Direct Response Coordinator - Ontario SPCA

The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is a registered charity with a provincial office in Stouffville. The Society supports communities throughout Ontario. The following opportunity is available at the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society Provincial Office within the Community and Donor Development Department.


POSITION TITLE:           Direct Response Coordinator (one year contract)


Reports To:                    Associate Director, Annual Giving

WORK LOCATION:         Flexible, with the ability to travel to and from our Provincial Office in Stouffville, On as required. 


Position Summary:

The Direct Response Coordinator is a key role within the Ontario SPCA’s annual giving program, with primary responsibilities around the organization’s direct mail and tele-fundraising activities.  The Direct Response Coordinator will work collaboratively with cross functional teams, both internal and external, to successfully coordinate the Ontario SPCA’s investment in Direct Response campaigns with a focus on strong campaign results, deliverables and cross stream integration.



  • Working in collaboration with our external partners, successfully coordinate the Direct Response program with a strong focus on deadlines, internal copy, art and laser live approvals
  • Ensuring content is aligned with the organization’s mission, branding and strategic goals
  • Source stories and content for campaigns with the guidance of external partners
  • Work closely with external partners to monitor and optimize tele-fundraising campaigns
  • Provide reporting and analysis on a regular basis on the status of direct response program
  • Assist with management and budget tracking for vendors and consultants in partnership with the Associate Director, Annual Giving
  • Extract data from Raisers Edge for all campaigns following the provided data segmentation strategy
  • Create and maintain seed lists and appeal records in Raisers Edge
  • As needed, manually input or import database updates to Raiser’s Edge to keep donor data current and accurate
  • Work closely with Digital Fundraising Specialist to ensure that integration into digital channels is achieved for all campaigns, and the Marketing team to create stewardship materials as needed
  • Maintain organized and concise digital and paper records of all campaigns
  • Liase with Finance Team to ensure timely processing of tele-fundraising transactions
  • Provide support to the Donor Services team as needed
  • Other duties in support of the Community & Donor Development Team as assigned



  • Relevant college diploma or university degree or equivalent is preferred
  • 3-5+ years relevant experience in non-profit fundraising
  • 3+ years of experience with Direct Response
  • Advanced knowledge of Raiser’s Edge
  • Prior experience with Luminate Online
  • Proven project management skills
  • Proven customer service, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Pro-active, self-directed and able to work in a fast-paced environment
