DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - Community Living Oakville

Community Living Oakville is inviting applications for the position of Development Manager. Reporting to the Executive Director this position will provide administrative support to the Executive Director and Board of Directors and leadership for fundraising initiatives, community development, public relations and communication. The Development Manager will ensure all activities are delivered in accordance with legislative, regulatory and funding requirements and Community Living Oakville’s Mission, Vision and Core Values.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fundraising and Community Engagement

  • Assist in the development of, and execute an annual fundraising and community engagement plan that will meet financial targets and support the short and long term goals of the organization
  • Execute existing fundraising initiatives, such as the annual Christmas Ask, United Way Campaign and Annual Golf Tournament as well as new events
  • Research, identify and apply for sponsorships and grants and complete follow-up reports according to the grant agreement
  • Develop corporate relationships and fundraising programs
  • Recruit sponsors, participants and build volunteer base
  • Design and distribute marketing materials to promote Community Living Oakville and advertise fundraising events
  • Prepare support materials for fundraising events, such as posters, pamphlets, bid sheets and gift bags
  • Attend community events, meetings and conferences to promote organizational goals and solicit donations or sponsorships
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and non-profit fundraising standards and requirements including the Canadian Revenue Agency
  • Generate and track tax receipts, and letters of appreciation
  • Monitor budgets and report event expenses
  • Manage and update donor databases
  • Maintain internal relationships and engagement with Community Living Oakville staff, and knowledge of activities and plans throughout the organization

Administrative Support to the Executive Director and Board of Directors

  • Prepare correspondence for the Executive Director and Board of directors as required
  • Maintain files for the Executive Director and Board as required
  • Distribute the agenda and corresponding reports and documents to all board members
  • Attend monthly Board of Directors meeting; record and produce minutes and all motions passed for review by the Executive Director
  • Distribute approved minutes to all board members
  • Attend sub-committee meetings and prepare minutes as required

Promotes the Vision, Mission and Values of Community Living Oakville

  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, practices and standards as established by Community Living Oakville
  • Enhance and promote a positive image and awareness of Community Living Oakville
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism at all times and ensure complete      confidentiality regarding the affairs and business of Community Living Oakville, the Executive Director and the Board of Directors

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A flexible personality, outgoing and personable demeanor, and able to work with varying positions and personalities
  • A university degree or college diploma in a relevant field
  • CFRE designation is preferred
  • Previous fundraising and/or community engagement experience preferably in a not-for-profit environment
  • Excellent project management skills with a proven history of executing in a professional and timely manner
  • Detail oriented with strong written, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable making presentations
  • Proficient with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Income Manager, Sumac
  • Self motivated, proactive and able to work independently
  • A clear Police Records Check with a Vulnerable Sector Screening is mandatory
  • Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and eligibility under Community Living Oakville’s insurance, access to a personal vehicle is required
  • Knowledge of marketing and effective use of social media

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed in a typical office environment, as well as outside of the office meeting with donors/potential donors, soliciting support and building community awareness
  • Flexibility in work hours is required for managing events that can take place on weekends or evenings
