Speech & Debate Canada Foundation – Development Coordinator
The Speech & Debate Canada Foundation a national non-profit based in Toronto; Ontario is seeking a seasoned Development Coordinator to guide us as we continue to grow. The ideal candidate will have an extraordinary track record for leading successful fundraising initiatives. This person is a skilled communicator, and leader who is passionate about our mission and will represent S&DCF to internal and external stakeholders with professionalism and integrity. 

Founded in 2017, Speech and Debate Canada Foundation is a registered not-for-profit. Our mission is to increase access to debate and speech programs, thereby increasing the number of debaters in middle and high schools across Canada. To accomplish our goals, we bring debate and public speaking clubs to Canada’s public elementary, middle, and high schools. 

Since our inception, we have worked with schools and students from coast to coast. We believe debate and public speaking fosters leadership and critical thinking skills, while empowering young people to see the world from new perspectives. We believe a student who debates becomes a young adult equipped to advocate for themselves and others. 

Duties include, but are not limited to: 
•    Promote awareness of Speech & Debate Canada Foundation’s mission
•    Build and maintain a donor data base
•    Grant research and writing
•    Coordinate and execute fundraising campaigns
•    Maintain existing relationships with individual and corporate donors, including acknowledgment and recognition 
•    Build up our social media on current platforms to ensure that our targets and events are represented
•    Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

•    Research potential donors, foundations, and other development opportunities
•    Represent the organization’s mission to donors, potential donors, and other external stakeholders
•    Design and write all written fundraising and outreach materials
•    Supervise fundraising event coordination and volunteers for such events
•    Maintain database of donors, track gifts, and fulfill reporting requirements to all stakeholders
•    Build relationships within the community that will benefit the organization

Key Competencies: 
•    Experience in managing databases and using fundraising software
•    Proven track record of planning and initiating successful fundraising strategies
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•    Outstanding attention to detail
•    Familiarity with debate as a co-curricular activity
•    Experience managing relationships with employees, volunteers and other community stakeholders 
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
•    Bilingualism in English and French would be an asset

•    Flex Time 
•    Must reside in Canada – primarily a work from home position with some onsite expectations
•    Opportunity to make an impact on Canadian youth

Hours of Work:
•    Base of 20 hours per week with more hours leading up to event dates, or deadlines on grant applications, etc. 

•     $30,000 to $40,000/year

Expected Start Date:
•    TBD based on the right candidate
