Communications & Events Coordinator

Part-time – 21 hours per week

12-month contract (maternity leave replacement)

Join our dedicated team!  The Active Adult Centre of Mississauga (AACM) is in search of a creative part-time Communications & Events Coordinator to fill a 12-month maternity leave in our community-based seniors’ charity. 


Working with the Centre’s staff and volunteers, the successful applicant will be responsible for the organization, implementation and evaluation of marketing, promotion, and communications initiatives in fulfillment of the AACM’s strategic priorities – these include:

  • Website – content creation and updating

  • Social and traditional media campaign development, execution and evaluation

  • Creation of Quarterly Newsletter and monthly Digital E-Newsletter

  • Implementation of internal and external marketing strategies aimed at increasing Centre’s brand awareness

  • Expansion of brand reach through planning and promotion of two annual community events (Walkathon and Active Fair)

  • Graphic design, photography and videography

  • Development of marketing collateral pieces

  • Budget administration and tracking

  • Sponsor solicitation and stewardship 

  • Preparation of evaluative reports as required

Qualifications/Qualities and Skills:

The candidate should possess the following:

  • Working knowledge of the following:

  • Constant Contact

  • Adobe InDesign/Photoshop

  • Canva

  • Squarespace

  • Social Media

  • Minimum of two - three years’ experience and demonstrated proficiency in the above

  • Demonstrated ability to create and curate compelling social media, website, and newsletter content

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proof-reading skills

  • Honed interpersonal skills; aptitude to work collaboratively and effectively with other employees, volunteers, and outside stakeholders

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to plan, manage, evaluate programs/ initiatives, and prioritize multiple projects

  • A self-starter

  • Proven problem solving skills

  • Experience working (or volunteering) in a non-profit organization/ environment an asset

  • Regular access to a vehicle considered an asset

  • Sense of humour a must

About the AACM:

Established in October 1992 by a group of concerned citizens, the AACM is a registered charitable organization committed to enriching the lives of Mississauga’s older adults who are 50+.  Formerly known as Square One Older Adult Centre, our organization currently offers a wide array of weekly social, recreational, health and wellness programs and services virtually.  Our aim is to ensure that older adults remain active, independent, and engaged in their community, thus bettering their health and well-being.
