The Southdown Institute is an accredited 22-bed residential treatment centre dedicated to serving an adult population of clergy and vowed religious. Southdown offers comprehensive clinical and candidate assessments, a 14-week Residential Program, a Continuing Care Program for those who have been in residency, outpatient psychological services, and consultation, education and outreach. The resident population typically consists of persons experiencing such issues as mood disorders, interpersonal conflicts, personality disorders, sexual problems, as well as a range of addictions (chemical and process).

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Clinical Psychologist to provide individual and group psychotherapy, psychological assessments and educational seminars. The Clinical Psychologist will participate in weekly case reviews and staff committees. Diagnostic assessments will be conducted using standardized psychological measures and incorporate findings from the multi-disciplinary team. The holistic treatment model at Southdown requires close interaction with the other members of the clinical team who provide addiction services, spiritual direction, nursing, psychiatry, and dietary and fitness instruction. Ongoing communication with referral sources through telephone contact and progress letters is essential.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology. The candidate will be authorized, or be eligible, for autonomous practice with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Computer literacy is essential for purposes of electronic charting, particularly the ability to use Microsoft Office. The successful candidate will be highly organized, have exceptional written and communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Individuals with experience in individual and group psychotherapy, CBT, DBT, short-term dynamic therapy, comprehensive psychological assessment, and the treatment of mood disorders and personality disorders will be given special consideration. Bilingualism in French or Spanish is an asset.
