Entry Level, Early Career

Copernicus Lodge is a not-for-profit organization with roots in the Polish-Canadian community and the Catholic faith, made possible through the efforts of that community. Copernicus provides a full spectrum of care and services to seniors encompassing a 228 bed long-term care home and a 200 independent self-care apartment operation including a Supportive Housing program as well as an Adult Day Program.

CEO Position Summary

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) reports directly to Copernicus Lodge’s Board of Directors – a group of volunteer directors who have an unwavering commitment to the mission of the Lodge.  The CEO is an experienced leader who can combine a pragmatic approach with visionary leadership and partner proactively and productively with the Board, the organization’s leadership team and key stakeholders.

The CEO will lead the organization through the strategic planning process by charting the future of the organization in collaboration with the Board of Directors. As a skilled leader and excellent communicator, you have developed the ability to foster and build trusting relationships with all levels of the organization internally as well as externally. This skill has also allowed you to be successful in your ability to expand partnerships, funding, other revenue sources and the visibility of the organization. Candidates must be passionate about Copernicus’s mission and vision, committed to diversifying the financial support base and dedicated to building new partnerships.

As the CEO you are an inspirational motivator, with a consultative approach and have a track record of providing leadership, coaching and mentorship to a competent management team which will allow them to execute their best work to achieve the organization’s goals. The complexities and subtleties of leading an organization such as Copernicus Lodge into the future will require the CEO to have highly developed critical thinking and problem solving skills along with impeccable decision making abilities, often in ever evolving circumstances.

Qualifications

The ideal CEO candidate will have 10-15 years of executive or senior management experience in the healthcare field, with familiarity working with a Board of Directors. You have demonstrated expertise working effectively in a highly regulated government environment within the Broader Public Sector such as the LHINs, Ontario Health or other government agencies. In addition, you have strong financial management oversight skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting, along with a history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results. Given the Polish-Canadian heritage of Copernicus, the ideal individual will have demonstrated a sensitivity and understanding of the importance that culture and religion play in the lives of our seniors.
