Call For Applications - Canada Green Corps Programme - United Nations Association in Canada

Do you want to work toward protecting the environment? Are you looking for a well-paid, meaningful job? Are you interested or trained in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)? If you answered yes to these questions, the Canada Green Corps’ Science Horizons 6-month internship programme is made for you! The United Nations Association in Canada is currently accepting applications by un- or underemployed youth aged 18-30 (inclusive) to join the green work force! Kick-start your career and gain valuable skills and experience while igniting Canada’s green economy.

Green Corps interns can be placed in private companies, civil society organisations, governments, Indigenous-based organisations, post-secondary institutions, and businesses across the country that contribute to the sustainable development sector. Our programme aims to place youth in positions that will elevate their knowledge, passion, and experience of STEM fields. Intern preferences will be indicated on the application.

To be eligible, youth must:

  • Be between the ages of 18 and 30 (inclusive) at time of intake
  • Be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or those who have been granted refugee status in Canada
  • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
  • Not be receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits at the time of the internship
  • Not be a full-time student or co-op student
  • Be unemployed or underemployed
    • Note: Underemployment exists when employed persons are A) working part-time, or B) working in a field that does not utilize their academic qualifications, thus, not attaining their full employment level

  • STEM positions in green manufacturing
  • Carbon and climate change mitigation
  • Energy efficiency and green building
  • Green services
  • Renewable/green energy
  • Solar and wind technology
  • Resource conservation
  • Watershed and water resource management
  • Environmental protection
  • Waste management
  • Alternative/sustainable transportation
  • Sustainable planning/urban design
  • Green retail
  • Eco-tourism
