2020 Vacancies: Families Canada (FC) Board of Directors


Nominee general skills

  • National as well as regional perspective
  • Experience/interest in community development, education, health
  • Leadership experience (Board experience an asset)
  • Problem solving/consensus building abilities
  • Perspectives around diversity
  • Excellent communication skills (bilingual or English only)

2020 nominee focus: Technology, Law (especially IP), Marketing/PR/Comms, Indigenous issues

Board is a mix of 8-15 Directors who bring a mix of professional/corporate experience or are FC member-Executive Directors: Board has policy and governance focus. Directors are appointed by Board then elected at next AGM for 3-year renewable terms. 


Board meetings:


  • Bi-monthly teleconference via Zoom video or dial-in (3PM EST)
  • Alternate bi-monthly Committee meetings (Directors must sit on one Committee)
  • Annual 2-day in-person AGM/Board  meeting – normally late Sept
